Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick, In Shade "Nude" Review

Stick foundation. The idea is genius for application purposes right? Swipe, swipe, swipe and blend with a brush, simple really. I found this to be the case with this Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick. The triangle shape is innovative but actually serves a great purpose in getting into hard to reach areas around the nose and under the eyes etc. With 26 shade options ranging from very light to very dark, it seems like there should be something to suit everyone too and because it blends so beautifully into the skin, I can see it being used for contouring and highlighting purposes as well. It's medium to full in coverage and is supposed to act as a foundation and concealer in one. Although I personally prefer using a lighter concealer under my eyes and have always used two separate products, I can see how that would be appealing to someone who has little time to get ready and wants to simplify their routine. The finish is a satin one which suits most skin tones but I'd say it would be best for normal skin types that aren't overly dry or overly oily because of it's formulation. What I love about this foundation is how easily it applies and blends into the skin and also how natural it looks once on. The reason I didn't end up getting along with it in the end was mainly because of how it settled onto my skin throughout the day. I have normal skin with slightly oily t-zone in the summer months (which is when I tested it) Within a couple of hours of wearing it, it was breaking down, creasing into any fine lines around my nose and mouth and just looking absolutely terrible on me. Although my powders (highlight, contour and blush) applied easily over it, they too began to crease up and patch off and I really didn't find it to be long lasting on me at all.  I gave it a good two months of testing it in every way possible to see how I could make it work, setting with powders, sprays and the works and it just didn't end up proving itself in the end. The packaging with it's sleek brown twist up stick, the color match and the coverage are all reasons I'd be open to trying other Hourglass face products in the future! I just can't justify a $46 foundation with such small amount of wear time where I'm concerned so hopefully the next one will be different.

Which luxury foundation should I try next? I've got YSL on the list and I'm eyeing a Guerlain one as well! Let me know in the comments, I"d love to get your recommendations!

Have you given this one a try? What did you think of it if you have? If you haven't would you like to?

This Hourglass stick foundation is available at Sophora, Nordstrom and on Amazon as well if your curious at all to see what it's like. As I do with all of my foundation reviews, I highly recommend giving this a test in a store, then going home and seeing how it works for you!

You can see in this image, how after a  couple of hours of wear, the foundation had completely worn down  around my lips, chin, and nose. You can also see how my powders are sitting strangely and moving around a bit. Excuse the lipstick, sometimes things don't quite work out how I expect when I try them!

This is not a sponsored post. There, got that out of the way hehe.
