Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer in "Light"

I really feel the need to share my opinion on this one because of all the hype it's received ever since it became available. When I began to see the love it was receiving I immediately wanted one of my own and of course it was sold out in the shade I thought would be most suitable for absolutely ages it seemed! I finally got my hands on my second best shade which was "light" and I gave it a really good test.

I can see why people are raving about this Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer. It's very thick, so it's got great coverage and the shades available are all really spot on. The doe foot applicator wand is actually a bit oversized to me and I prefer to use a brush for application. The reason this concealer really doesn't work on my face is because it dries my skin out, is too thick to set into place even when using a powder to attempt it and this specific shade only matches my skin tone once blended into place but doesn't add any brightness. I really wish I would have been able to get my hands on the lightest shade in the first place which would have been a lot better for brightening my under eye area. The one and only reason I've hung onto this concealer is because it's my favorite product to use when creating a "cut crease" eye look because of it's amazing coverage and blend-ability. As for using it to conceal under eyes, redness or the occasional spot, I'll stick to my makeup forever and it cosmetics concealers for that. So, although this product is a bit disappointing for me, I'm glad I've at least found some use for it.

I have come to notice that among the many Tarte products I've tried over the years, I either really hate or really love most of them. Overall, I am thrilled to have discovered the standout ones I have.
