Main House BBQ of Mill Basin Brooklyn

Date night. It's valued greatly around here. My husband and I have made it our mission to get out at least once a month for some alone time. It's so beneficial to our home life to take a step back from the kids sometimes and head out on our own for a breath of fresh air. It's also especially conducive to a happy communicative marriage. I highly recommend trying to make this a part of your life if it isn't already! Being the foodie I am, I always have a long list of local restaurants I want to visit when food is on the agenda. Februarys date night choice was Main House BBQ of Mill Basin, a fairly new smokehouse bbq joint with a cute country vibe.

The short menu made for an easy selection and our food came out really quickly once we'd ordered. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful with recommending selections and everything was priced really fairly. My husband went for the beef ribs which he very much enjoyed and my main was the brisket sandwich. Being gallbladder-less I have very little tolerance for fatty meat so I ended up enjoying the schmaltzy mashed potatoes and incredible chicken soup more then anything else. We had no room left for desert but we ordered the fried oreos anyways and boy was it worth it.

I thought the place had a really great rustic feeling with it's big red barn door behind which the smoker lies and great open ceilings. I loved getting to watch the staff as they worked and prepared behind the counters as well. I think this place is just the one for guys night out or date nights too.
