Friday Fashion: The Cordoroy Brown Skirt OOTD

I've always loved corduroy. It goes in and out of style but to me it's such a timeless fabric. I love how soft and comfortable it is to wear in the colder months.

Whenever I say corduroy I'm reminded of the childrens book from my childhood about the little bear who wakes up when the department store is closed and makes his way up to the mattress department in search of a new button to please a little girl who spotted him that day only to be disappointed by his missing button. This skirt reminds me of that bear too. It's soft and brown and makes me as happy as the childhood memories I have of reading that book with my mother before bed. The author Don Freeman, depicts feelings in such a real way that you truly feel for his characters. This makes it a wonderful book for children to learn from. I recently picked up a copy of our own which now sits on my own sons bookshelf to read to my boys before bed when it's the one they choose.

Back to the outfit now.

I saw all sorts of versions of these skirts with buttons down the front while searching for this one. I spotted it in Charlotte Russe and knew I had to have it. They only have it available in black online  at a this point but I think that color is really nice as well with the silver buttons. I love pairing it with this black fuzzy cropped sweater with a mock neck (similar linked) I got from Forever 21. The cream hat with fuzzy brown pom pom was another Forever 21 find (similar linked) when winter began. It keeps my head and ears so warm when I'm out and about. The bag is what I like to call my Friday bag because it holds my keys, wallets, cards and basics for a day like Friday when I only run small errands and don't need to lug my huge every day bag around for. It's a teal messenger style bag with snake print on the front, I came across while shopping on H&M's site for my kids actually. I haven't worn these sunglasses since summer but I thought the orange tones worked really well and I do really like myself in the cat eye shape for a change. They were sent to me by last summer and I've gotten so much wear out of them since. The black leggings are another basic I always buy from H&M. I chose these shoes which have been my duck boot of the season found at Target luckily as it was the last pair in my size (7m). They tick all of the boxes for me- lace up, waterproof on the outside and soft and cozy on the inside being lined with a cream colored faux fur. The raspberry pink lipstick I'm wearing here is a Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Creme Lipstick in 216 Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang and my wig is my ombre' Irene which is looking quite bright red in these pictures but is alot more dark brown in person.

I have really embraced winter fashion this year. Normally I can't be bothered to throw on much more then a black t-shirt and typical skirt with leggings because I'm a pretty cold person who doesn't enjoy cold weather at all. I'd say we've had it pretty decent with not too much snow to shovel so I'm trying to be positive. It's almost over now with March creeping up on us too. Soon enough, I'll be able to pull out my white denim and mint peep toe heels again. What are you most looking forward to wearing when Spring finally comes around?

Thanks so much for stopping in!
