A few months ago I hosted a little charity makeup party in my house with the proceeds going to two little boys who had just become orphans. They attend my sons school and the cause felt really important to me so I was glad to do whatever little things I could to help. The makeup party consisted of a Mary Kay rep coming down and talking to the group I'd pulled together. She also had products out for everyone to sample. It was a fun night, but best of all of the proceeds of purchases made went to those sweet boys! Long story short, I ended up coming across these cream shadows and after swatching them, I immediately chose these two colors which seemed unique to my collection. I've since used them quite a bit and I'm finally going to tell you what I think of them.
What Mary Kay has to say about them: "This soft, creamy, long wearing formula glides on easily, lasts for 10 hours and can be applied in multiple layers to deliver more noticeable color while retaining a lightweight feel."
Consistency: These cream shadows are thinner in consistency then others I've tried like the Maybelline, Mac and Smashbox ones. They are still quite creamy and easy to blend out. I have used brushes and my fingers both to apply and they go on easily both ways.
Quality & Lasting Power: These seem to be of very good quality since they set pretty quickly after being blended out and stay put without fading or creasing at all throughout the day. They don't last as long as my favorite Smashbox ones, but they still have some pretty great staying power!
Packaging: These are so lightweight feeling and the product comes in a much smaller, slimmer container making it easy to pack in a makeup bag to take on the go. As always when dipping your fingers into a makeup product that comes in a pot, there is going to be that not too sanitary issue but using a spatula can avoid that problem easily.
Pigmentation: They are sheer-medium when applied at first but they build up beautifully. These specific colors called glacier grey and meadow grass are from their shimmer collection so they do have the slightest sparkle to them but it isn't overdone so I find it pretty.
Price: These cream shadows go for $14 a piece. With 15 oz of product I don't think that is too bad since I have had them for a while and haven't even begun to make a dent!
