My October 2013 Beauty Favorites

Another month has come and gone and as is routine for me in closing each one, I have some beauty favorites to talk about. We have now been living in our new home for one whole month and it sure has been hectic. There have been several things that stood out to me for helping my makeup stay put and keeping my looks simple over this month and in regards to skin care. I have been battling some stressed out skin with some of the best products in my skin care closet. As I do each week, I have uploaded a video to YouTube and it pairs with todays post. Watch the video here to get more details on each item, or read till the end where it will be inserted as usual.

Here's what I've been favoring most of my beauty products over the past month:

E.L.F. Mineral Eyeshadow Primer- I've been playing around with some of my powder eye shadows this past month instead of my favorite cream forms since my palettes have been a bit neglected lately. To keep the shadows from moving around and creasing throughout the day, this primer has been a must. It is also so comparable to others in my collection like Urban Decays Primer Potion which is alot more expensive.

Mac Prep & Prime Skin Base- I've had this one in my collection for years and even carry one in my makeup artists kit. I  really like the feel of it on my skin. It keeps my face makeup from settling into fine lines and dry patches I may have towards the winter time.   I also find it keeps my makeup in place well.

Smashbox Be Discovered Cream Blush Trio in Show Biz*- I wasn't crazy over cream blushes when I first got this but now that my skin is a bit dry it works beautifully. I've also been using the lightest pink shade on my lips too so it's a great multitask product too.

NYX Megashine Lip Gloss in Smokey Look- When I'm not going for my berry toned lips I stick to the nudes and I like to layer this shimmery creamy nude gloss over that pink Smashbox cream blush. It's a perfect combination.

Essie Berry Hard Nail Polish- I recently mentioned this nail polish as a fall essential and I truly wore it throughout the month of October. It is the perfect red-Burgundy shade and a real classic.

Clean & Clear Continuous Control Acne Cleanser- Bothersome breakouts have been happening in my chin area this month and this is the one thing I always turn to in that situation. Over night it clears my face up completely which is likely due to it's ingredient-benzoyl peroxide which I know works very well with my skin.

Mary Kay Private Spa Collection Embrace Harmony Sugar Scrub: Scrubs are great for exfoliating the skin and they promote cell turnover as well. I use them all year round and always have one included in my nightly skin care routine. In the winter time I need them most to slough off dead skin or dry patches. This is the one I've been using recently and it is quite rough in comparison to some of my others but it definitely does the job.

Remington Wet to Style Hair Iron:  This is one of the oldest tools in my hair care chest. I think I've had it since I was 12 or 13 and that is a while, being that I just turned 24 don't you think? :) I've held on to it since it's unique in the way that it can be used on wet hair. I do recommend going in with a heat protectant first of course which is what I do but it does make styling hair one step easier.

What have you been loving this past month? Have you tried any of these products? What did you think of them if you have?

  2. I recently picked up the Clean & Clear as I was out of my Proactiv and didn't have time to reorder. Although the Clean & Clear works well, I'm not a fan of the menthol which will burn the heck out of your eyes if you're unfortunate to get product there.
