September 2013's Kitchen of the Month

September only just started yet it's almost over. How did that happen?! Between the cooking, packing, traveling and holidays I was bound to lose track of time I guess. Believe it or not I am in the process of planning a kitchen of my own which has always been my dream. I have already picked my cabinets and I still have to choose my counter tops and back splash. I can't wait to share it all with you once we've settled into the new place and although my kitchen isn't a layout I would have chosen I have made it work because I love the new house. One day I will do an entire re-do but for the meantime I am so thrilled and grateful for all that I have.

Anyways, time for the kitchen of the month! It seems that grey is the latest and greatest color and if I had a grey kitchen this is for sure how I would want it to look.

his kitchen just reminds me of bringing some sunshine into a sad, quiet place and with fall and winter coming the weather is only going to get darker and drearier. I am trying to hold on to that sunlight and warmth as long as possible and I have to say for fall the weather has been pretty beautiful. Isn't this room positively charming?

My favorite details are:

1) The simple yet bright orange colored stools which breathe happiness into an otherwise simple room.

2) The huge window which lets in so much natural sunlight is amazing!

3) The huge island is perfect in every way- there's so much room for sitting and eating, cutting up veggies and even doing homework with the kids and the sink at the center is so convenient as well.

4) The white lights bring even more light to this room and although they are typical they are classy in a kitchen like this one.

I dislike the back splash area which I think could have been decorated a bit better with some tile or granite and I do think this room needs a little more decor like some pretty shades, a plant or even a colorful knife or spice rack.

What do you think of this months kitchen? Do you think it's fabulous or blah?

  3. I think it's a bit too modern and can I say "manly" for me? Maybe it's all the black (and/or grey) and minimalism. But I certainly do like the island. One day.. I hope I can have one too! ^_^
