I do realize that we are already a week into June so my May favorites are definitely a bit late this month. In my defense I had this all prepared for weeks but I like to do my favorites posts around my favorites videos and I'm uploading every Sunday so it does get a bit complicated. I am thinking of uploading a few times a week instead of just once a week for Sundays. That might just happen sometime in the near future depending on how my schedule is.
I am so excited that June has arrived because that marks the start of Summer which is ultimately the best time of year for me since I am naturally a very cold person and I love to soak up the heat. We have had some really nice warm days in the past week and I love being able to dress my son in his short sleeved shirts, sandals, shorts etc. once again.
On to the favorites! I kept it pretty concise this time since I only had a couple of new things to talk about and otherwise revisited some older items from my collection that were really amazing over the past month.
Smashbox Shades of Fame Eyeshadow Palette*- This eye shadow palette was limited edition from Smashbox for last Spring/Summer. It is available on beauty.com though if you are interested in getting one for yourself. It has some really gorgeous shades in it from brights to neutrals and it even has two cream eye shadows which I think are a really nice addition. The eye shadows and liners are all pretty well pigmented but I like to layer them over an eyeshadow primer as always.
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion- this is a mini size that I got as a sample with a purchase at some point. I love this because it really does prevent my eye shadows from creasing or moving around at all during the day. I did find that my e.l.f. eyelid primer for $1 is so similar and just as good though so I don't see myself repurchasing this in the near future even so.
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in "Milk"- This is an extremely creamy white pencil that goes on my eyelids really easily. It creates a base for my eye shadows and I like that it makes the colors more vibrant. I often use this on my waterline to make my eyes appear larger and more awake as well.
Maybelline Eye Studio Gel Eyeliner in Charcoal/Carbon- I have been through several of these already as they are one of favorite gel eyeliners of all time. They can easily compete with my high end ones as well. The color goes on really easily and doesn't budge from my waterline throughout the day!
Wet N Wild 903C Just Peachy Lipstick- I recently mentioned purchasing this in my drugstore haul post. I somehow forgot to include this item in my video but it cannot be skipped here. It is richly pigmented in color and it lasts on my lips for hours plus it is the perfect peach pink nude color for every day wear.
Smashbox Heatwave Lip gloss set*- I have been layering these lip glosses over my lipsticks all throughout the past month. The colors are gorgeous- orange, raspberry fuchsia, brown nude and bright pink. I do find that they are a bit sticky (not my favorite formulation) which means they last on the lips really nicely.
Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain Rendezvous- This was another item mentioned in that drugstore haul post. I can not say enough good things about this lip product. I have been pairing it with my more neutral looks over the past month. It is the most gorgeous coral shade and although it feels like a balm on the lips the color lasts for hours.
Sun Bum Sunscreen Lip Balm Pink Guava SPF 30- This lip balm has the best scent ever and I like that it hydrates my lips and protects them from the suns harmful rays at the same time.
Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder Creamy Natural- This is a really nice setting powder. Yet another product mentioned in that drugstore haul post. I find that it sets my makeup and keeps my naturally oily t-zone matte all day. A full review is coming very soon so look out for that.
Nars Laguna Bronzer- I am almost out of this bronzer but I have been really impressed with it ever since I started using it. It goes on really smoothly, has great color payoff and isn't too orange or too brown for my pale skin tone. It has not left my makeup bag all month.
Clinique Blush 101 Aglow- It's not often that I wear blush since I have some natural ruddiness in my cheeks already. I have really liked this one this past month though as it doesn't have red undertones. It's a pink rose gold kind of color and it just adds the lightest colored shimmer to my cheeks.
Mac Prep and Prime Skin Base- This primer looks white when it is pumped out but goes on translucent. It has the slightest shimmer to it that just peeks through my face makeup ever so slightly and gives the nicest glow. It does a great job of keeping my makeup on even with the heat and humidity present.
Skin Care & Randoms:
Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser- Sometimes I like to go for a cleanser that isn't rough on my skin at all but does a good job of cleansing and removing my face makeup after a long day. This one does just that. I like to have one of these in my makeup artists kit as well since it has no scent and works for all skin types.
Stri Vectin Skin Treatment- It's meant to reduce wrinkles and boost the skin luminosity- I can't vouch for the wrinkle reducing part but I do find that it works well at reducing puffiness in my under eye area and brightening as well. I have been using a pump every night all throughout last month and it's still going strong. It was a sample that came along with a purchase, I don't see myself repurchasing once I run out as I think I can find something less expensive that works just as well.
Essie Mojito Madness Nail Polish- It's no secret that I am crazy over the green color at the moment. This is such a pretty pastel green and I really like how it looks on my nails. I did en entire nail of the day post here discussing all of the details a little while back.
Bath and Body Works PocketBac Anti Bacterial Hand Gel in Warm Vanilla Sugar- this was a gift from my younger sister (thanks Chani!) I absolutely love how it smells. I have had this in my purse all through the past month or so since I like to be able to keep my hands clean and bacteria free wherever I may be- the library, the mall etc.
